PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit
The PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit is designed to support preventive health management and risk assessment for Alzheimer's disease through rapid and accurate APOE genotyping.
Introduction
The APOE (Apolipoprotein E) gene plays a key role in lipid metabolism and neuronal repair and is recognized as the strongest genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Three major APOE alleles, ε2, ε3, and ε4, are defined by two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), rs429358 and rs7412.
While the ε3 allele is the most common and considered neutral, the ε2 allele is generally associated with a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease, whereas the ε4 allele is associated with an increased risk and an earlier age of disease onset.
APOE genotyping supports risk assessment, preventive health management, patient stratification, and clinical research, enabling more personalized approaches to cognitive health and Alzheimer’s disease management.
Product Description
The PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit is designed to support preventive health management and risk assessment for Alzheimer’s disease through rapid and accurate APOE genotyping.
As a multiplex qPCR assay, it simultaneously detects the two clinically relevant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the human APOE gene, rs429358 (codon 112) and rs7412 (codon 158), in a single reaction tube and a single qPCR run. These two SNPs define the three major APOE alleles (ε2, ε3, and ε4).
By analyzing both inherited copies of the APOEgene, the assay identifies all six possible genotypes: ε2/ε2, ε2/ε3, ε2/ε4, ε3/ε3, ε3/ε4, and ε4/ε4.
The resulting genotype provides valuable information on an individual’s genetic predisposition to late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, supporting preventive healthcare strategies, patient stratification, and clinical research.
The PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit is compatible with real-time PCR instruments capable of detecting FAM, HEX, Cy5, and Cy5.5 fluorescence channels.
