New PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit for Efficient APOE Genotyping in a Single Workflow

As Alzheimer’s disease continues to place a growing burden on individuals, families, and healthcare systems worldwide, there is increasing demand for tools that support earlier risk awareness and more personalized health management. APOE genetic testing provides valuable insight into an individual’s genetic susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease, helping healthcare professionals in supporting informed discussions, proactive risk management, and more personalized approaches to long-term brain health.
In line with our commitment to supporting the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, Zinexts now officially releases the PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit, marking an important first step in the introduction of our molecular testing portfolio for neurodegenerative diseases.
The PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit is designed to simultaneously detect two key single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the human APOE gene, rs429358 and rs7412, in a single qPCR workflow. Analysis of these two genetic variants enables identification of the three major APOE alleles: ε2, ε3, and ε4.
By analyzing both inherited copies of the APOE gene, the assay can determine all six possible APOE genotypes: ε2/ε2, ε2/ε3, ε2/ε4, ε3/ε3, ε3/ε4, and ε4/ε4. These results provide valuable genetic information related to an individual’s susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease and can contribute to more personalized risk assessment and health management.
For an even more streamlined workflow, the PlicaGen™ ApoE GT qPCR Kit can be combined with the fully automated, sample-to-results NeXgen™ 16HP system. It provides an integrated solution for automated nucleic acid extraction, qPCR setup, amplification, detection, and result analysis, supporting fast and efficient APOE genotyping with minimal hands-on intervention.
This integrated solution has already been adopted within a neurological healthcare network in Taiwan for Alzheimer’s disease-related genetic testing, further demonstrating the potential of Zinexts’ automated molecular testing technologies in neurodegenerative disease applications.
Earlier awareness of genetic susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease can support appropriate follow-up, risk monitoring, and more informed long-term health planning. By making APOE genotyping more accessible and easier to integrate into routine molecular workflows, Zinexts aims to support healthcare professionals in advancing more proactive and personalized approaches to brain health.
